Don't know that one, but I can manage a little Electric Glide if you'd like... I've always felt you shouldn't. I know, I know, clipping's a greater evil than Hitler, but sometimes it's what happens. If you're at the limit of your charge range, and can only get three models into contact, so be it. It CAN make a huge difference in the combat; stranding your characters outside the fight, limiting attacks and such. All this can swing a combat one way or the other. Now, I don't advocate doing it, but if it's unavoidable, let it lie.

I have never had a problem with it. If my opponent wants to, let it happen, if not then oh well.

I think we'll leave it up to the opponents to agree whether they want to slide or not.
I like sliding on the charge to avoid time-consuming measurements, it just makes for a quicker, cleaner game.
I dislike sliding once you are in combat though.

Sounds fair enough. You should probably mention it in your opening announcements so players can ask each other before the game. Nothing like having to decide when it's important!

There should be a default though, that way when players disagree theres an answer ready made.

The default in the rules is clearly 'no sliding'.
This is clear in the rulebook, and then confirmed in the FAQ.

I know what the rulebook says, but that doesn't change the fact that at the moment the default is "I think we'll leave it up to the opponents to agree whether they want to slide or not." since any given tournament makes whatever rules they want. Don't get me wrong, I hate sliding with a passion, but this last statement by our esteemed organizer leaves it somewhat up in the air.

Well, I for one will never voluntarily agree to sliding.

Nor would I ask it, but as the waters have been muddied, I seek clarity

Agree, there should be a clear default (and that default should be to follow the rules and not slide).

Personal preference put aside, the rules do not allow for sliding. So the tournament default has to be not to slide.
If both players agree to slide however, then great for them. This is something that should be discussed before each game though, and if both players do not agree, then no sliding.
